Nlf Trio

=
nicolas laureau, ludovic morillon, fabrice laureau, Paris

The initials represent the strong link between the three musicians who co-founded the label Prohibited Records, and who have been playing together for more than ten years now. At first, the initials were just written on the boxes containing the trio's recordings in order to locate them amongst all the others. By late 1999, the name of the instrumental project had fallen into place by itself--nlf3[trio]. Citing 70's jazz, afrobeat and experimental rock as inspirations, but using sampling-pedals, a Macintosh G3 and a small sampler, nlf3's approach falls in parallel with contemporary electronic music, as much as with the above listed genres. nlf3 trio have released its new album "viva!" in march 2003. it is quite difficult to classify their music, "viva!" is definitely exciting and fresh, result of a full year of instrumental research, mixing shades of electronica, afro-jazz and psychedelic rock.
